BIRDSLEUTH
Promoting grassroots bird conservation in Latin America
The Challenge
For conservation to take root it must be championed at the grassroots level. The Cornell Lab of Ornithology is working with locals across Central America to bring bird conservation and ecology to young students by training teachers. Tests of the program had been very successful — now it was time to spread the word to more teachers who might be interested in using BirdSlueth in their own classrooms.
The Solution
To reach our audience we told the story of a group of teachers attending a BirdSleuth workshop in Guatemala. The teachers share their experience and growing enthusiasm for the program as they learn more about how it works. In the end new bonds are created, stories are shared, and a collective resolve to teach conservation is strengthened.
