To the Tides | Film
Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife
It has been almost 150 years since the ocean tides last washed over Leque Island in Puget Sound. To the Tides follows the island’s transformation back into the salt marsh it once was, after it was drained and converted to farmland over a century ago. No one alive today remembers the island as anything other than farm fields, and it was a hard change for some who felt they were losing a place with personal meaning to them. Our aim was to honor that sentiment while showing the necessity of restoration projects like this for bringing back healthy estuaries and salmon runs.
